| 地产的说明 | The Château Calon Ségur is located on the Saint-Estèphe’s town. At the Gallo-Roman times, this village was called "Calones" (it was the name of the boats, which were used to transport timber from one bank to another of the Gironde). The château then took the name of Saint-Estèphe de Calon. The Marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur acquired the field at the eighteenth century and the castle became château Calon-Ségur. The marquis was also owner of château Lafite and château Latour. He said: "I do my wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon." A heart was symbolized on the label of the wine, in order to do homage to the marquis. The 60 hectares of this area produce a powerful and fragrant wine, which was ranked “third cru classé” in 1855. Thanks to the selflessness of its current owner, Denise Capbern-Gasqueton, the wines of château Calon Segur often compete with the best ones. There is also a second wine, the Marquis de Calon. |
